
BOSTON - A Waltham man was sentenced in federal court for receiving prohibited payments from employers.
Joseph Pavone, 54, was sentenced to probation for 24 months by the Honorable George A. O’Toole. Pavone was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, a $225 special assessment, and restitution in the amount of $6,467.14. In October 2011, Pavone pleaded guilty to receiving prohibited payments from three separate employers between May 2007 and June 2008, while he was an officer of Laborers’ Local 560.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz, Robert L. Panella, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General, Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations, and District Director Mark Neylon, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards, made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura J. Kaplan in Ortiz’s Organized Crime Strike Force Unit.
