BOSTON - In U.S. District Court today, Judge Patti B. Saris sentenced a Dedham man to 21 months in prison and five years of supervised release for possession of child pornography.
At an earlier plea hearing, Donald F. Slason, 58, admitted to downloading and uploading images of child pornography via the Internet, and to possessing and viewing additional images of child pornography on computer media recovered from his home.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz , Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, and Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Boston made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael I. Yoon of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit and Trial Attorney Bonnie L. Kane of the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the DOJ’s Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
