Baltimore Felon Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
Also Pleaded Guilty to Violating His Supervised Release From a Previous Conviction
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis sentenced Keith Massenburg, age 45, of Baltimore, today to 10 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin, and violation of supervised release from a previous conviction.
The guilty plea and sentence were announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Steven L. Gerido of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts.
According to Masenburg’s plea agreement, on March 2, 2012, Baltimore Police officers executed at search warrant at Massenburg’s residence in the 1600 block of North Caroline Street in Baltimore. Massenburg was located walking up the staircase from the basement to the first floor. Massenburg advised detectives that there was a gun and drugs in the basement and in the second floor front bedroom. Officers located a .38 caliber revolver and ammunition in the basement, along with drug packaging material and paraphernalia. On the second floor, officers recovered a plastic bag with 1.36 grams of raw heroin, a loaded .40 caliber handgun and $3,500 in suspected drug proceeds. Detectives continued to search the home and recovered a loaded .44 caliber handgun from the third floor front bedroom.
At the time of the search, Massenburg was on supervised release for a previous federal conviction on gun and drug charges.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF, Baltimore Police Department and Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in the investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Special Assistant United States Attorney H. Brandis Marsh, Jr., a cross-designated Baltimore City Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to Exile cases, who prosecuted the case.
