Greensboro Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison For Drug Trafficking

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar sentenced Myron Derrell Allen, age 31, of Greensboro, Maryland, yesterday to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (crack).

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge William Winter of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); Chief George Ball of the Trappe Police Department; and Colonel Marcus L. Brown, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police.

According to his guilty plea, on August 10, 2011 a Talbot County Sheriff’s officer found Allen in a vehicle stopped on Old Trappe Road in Trappe, Maryland with its flashers on. The officer smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle and from Allen. Allen was unable to perform sobriety tests. The officer arrested Allen for driving while impaired, searched the vehicle and seized 529 grams of cocaine base from the vehicle.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the HSI Baltimore, Trappe Police Department and Maryland State Police for their work in the investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Special Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth S. Clark and Assistant United States Attorney Christopher J. Romano, who prosecuted the case.
