Baltimore Career Offender Exiled to More than 10 Years in Federal Prison

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced Damon Kimbrough, age 34, of Baltimore, today to 130 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Davis enhanced Kimbrough’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on three prior convictions for drug trafficking.

According to the guilty plea, on May 28, 2005, two Baltimore City Police officers conducted a consent search of Kimbrough’s residence and recovered a firearm, approximately 13 grams of cocaine, and glass vials. Some of the cocaine was contained in the glass vials, which is a common method for packaging cocaine for distribution in Baltimore. During the search, Damon Kimbrough indicated that the gun, drugs, and glass vials were his.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Baltimore City Police Department for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard C. Kay, who prosecuted the case.
