Baltimore County Crack Dealer Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett sentenced Malcolm R. Allen, age 29, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Middle River, Maryland, today to 18 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III; and Chief James W. Johnson of the Baltimore County Police Department.

According to Allen’s guilty plea, on April 25, 2007, detectives executed a search warrant at Allen’s home in Middle River. At the time of the search Allen was found in the kitchen of the home. From the kitchen, law enforcement recovered: crack cocaine; a digital scale with cocaine residue; a partially burnt marijuana cigar; $307 in cash; and three cellular telephones. From other locations in the home law enforcement recovered: 145 pills of 3-4 methylenediozymethamphetamine (MDMA), also known as Ecstasy; $8,728 in cash; and additional drug packaging paraphernalia. Allen was arrested, but according to evidence presented at the sentencing hearing, upon his release on bail Allen left Maryland. He was indicted federally on May 13, 2008. Allen was subsequently arrested in Texas, where he had an initial appearance on these charges on June 11, 2009.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended Special Assistant United States Attorney Christine Celeste, a cross-designated Baltimore City Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to narcotics cases, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Romano, who prosecuted the case.
