Baltimore Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Keyone Green, age 27, of Baltimore, Maryland, today to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein, Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
“Mr. Green knew his drug dealing days were coming to an end as the DEA arrested him,” stated Ava Cooper-Davis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration. “The sentence Mr. Green received was appropriate and sends a very strong message that if you continue to peddle drugs, DEA will catch you,” added Cooper-Davis.
According to Green’s guilty plea, on August 13, 2009, an undercover DEA agent arranged with Green to meet at a restaurant on Reisterstown Road in Baltimore to purchase 4.5 ounces of cocaine base. The undercover agent had twice before purchased cocaine from Green. At the prearranged meeting, DEA agents saw Green get into the undercover agent’s car. Green sold 4.5 ounces of cocaine to the agent for $4,500. They discussed Green supplying the agent with 1/4 to ½ kilograms of cocaine and Green said he would contact the agent later with price information.
On September 16, 2009, Green met the agent again to sell cocaine. However, before the meeting, law enforcement agents arrested Green, who was found to possess cocaine that Green had intended to sell to the agent.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney Philip S. Jackson, who prosecuted the case.
