Greenbelt, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced Colie Davis III, age 29, of Landover, Maryland, today to 151 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base and for being a felon in possession of a gun, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

According to his guilty plea, on December 26, 2006 Prince George’s County Police officers stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. After the vehicle stopped, officers saw Davis exit the vehicle, place a handgun in his waistband and flee. While in pursuit, officers saw Davis throw a plastic bag containing 94.5 grams of marijuana against a fence. The officers caught up with Davis and during a struggle to arrest him, a plastic bag containing 63.5 grams of cocaine base and a loaded semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number fell from his clothes. Davis had been previously convicted of a felony drug offense and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Prince George’s County Police Department for their investigative work. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Pauze, who prosecuted the case.
