Bloomington man sentenced for distributing methamphetamine

MINNEAPOLIS—Today in federal court, a 30-year-old Bloomington man was sentenced for distributing methamphetamine. United States District Judge David S. Doty sentenced Ricardo Cervantes-Perez to 120 months in federal prison on one count of distribution of methamphetamine. Cervantes-Perez, who was indicted on May 21, 2012, pleaded guilty on August 21, 2012.
His plea agreement stated that from November 3, 2011, to March 19, 2012, he distributed a total of 180 grams of actual methamphetamine. During that time, he also possessed an additional 162 grams of actual methamphetamine, intending to distribute it.
This case was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Surya Saxena and Andrew R. Winter.
