Duluth man sentenced for manufacturing marijuana

MINNEAPOLIS—Today in federal court, a 60-year-old Duluth man was sentenced for manufacturing approximately 204 marijuana plants. United States District Judge David S. Doty sentenced James Arthur Lyons to 60 months in prison and four years of supervised release on one count of manufacturing marijuana. Lyons, who was indicted on September 9, 2010, pleaded guilty on July 2, 2012.
In his plea agreement, Lyons admitted that from January 2009 through November 24, 2009, he manufactured approximately 204 marijuana plants at his home in Duluth, Minnesota.
This case was the result of an investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Winter.
