St. Louis, MO - The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that a St. Louis County man has been sentenced to 322 months in federal prison on multiple drug and weapons charges.

MARK EDWIN SHORES, St. Louis, MO,was convicted in October of felony counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, maintaining a drug involved premises, possession with intent to distribute heroin, being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The six counts of conviction arose out of a federal search warrant executed at Shores’ residence on September 16, 2009, and a subsequent federal warrant for Shores’ arrest executed at the same residence on September 9, 2010. The two incidents combined led to the seizure of distribution amounts of crack cocaine and heroin, marijuana, drug distribution paraphernalia and a fully loaded .38 Special revolver from Shores’ residence.

Shores appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Carol E. Jackson. Shores’ sentence resulted, in large part, from his designation as an Armed Career Criminal.

This case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Assistant United States Attorneys Cristian Stevens, Thomas Rea and Sayler Fleming prosecuted the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
