St. Louis, MO - Jamaal Curry Johnson was sentenced to 291 months in prison on multiple drug and weapons charges, one of which was connected to a 2004 murder.

According to testimony presented at trial, Johnson was a member of the Maffitt Street gang which sold drugs, robbed other drug dealers and used guns to defend the gang's turf. One of the charges related to the fatal May 11, 2004, shooting of Ronnel Coleman. Other charges related to Johnson's sale of cocaine base, marijuana and ecstasy from 2004 to 2008.

JAMAAL CURRY JOHNSON, St. Louis, MO, was convicted on May 30, 2012, following a seven-day jury trial before United States District Court Judge Carol E. Jackson, in the Eastern District of Missouri. Mr. Johnson was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine base, marijuana, ecstasy/MDMA and ecstasy/BZP; conspiracy to use and carry firearms and possess firearms in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime; possession of a firearm (with death resulting) in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime; possession of a discharged firearm; and being a previously-convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Dean Hoag prosecuted the case for the United States Attorney's Office.
