two jackson county men indicted for child porn

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that two Jackson County, Mo., men were indicted by a federal grand jury today in separate and unrelated cases related to child pornography.

Andrew E. Collier, 47, of Independence, Mo., was charged in a four-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo.

Today’s indictment alleges that Collier attempted to receive child pornography over the Internet between May 17 and Nov. 4, 2009. Collier is also charged with one count of attempting to distribute child pornography over the Internet between Oct. 24 and Nov. 4, 2009, one count of receiving child pornography over the Internet on Oct. 27, 2009, and one count of possessing child pornography on Nov. 4, 2009.

David R. Brown, 54, of Raytown, Mo., was charged in a four-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo.

Today’s indictment alleges that Brown attempted to distribute child pornography over the Internet on Nov. 22, 2009. Brown is also charged with one count of attempting to receive child pornography over the Internet on Dec. 9, 2009, one count of receiving child pornography over the Internet on Nov. 14, 2009, and one count of possessing child pornography on Dec. 15, 2009.

Phillips cautioned that the charges contained in these indictments are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

These cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Marquez. They were investigated by the Independence, Mo., Police Department.
