Three defendants indicted for drug-Trafficking conspiracy
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that three defendants were indicted by a federal grand jury today for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana in Boone, Callaway and Cooper counties.
Jason Randall Holloway, 30, of Columbia, Mo., Damon Reed Lower, 35, of Fulton, Mo., and Jaime Cerros-Perez, 29, a citizen of Mexico residing in the Kansas City, Mo., area, were charged in a five-count superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City, Mo.
Today’s superseding indictment replaces a Nov. 2, 2010, indictment that was filed against Cerros-Perez. The superseding indictment adds Holloway and Lower as defendants and contains additional charges.
The federal indictment alleges that Holloway, Lower and Cerros-Perez participated in a conspiracy to distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana and five kilograms or more of cocaine in Boone, Callaway and Cooper counties in Missouri, as well as in Kansas, from 2007 to Sept. 27, 2010.
In addition to the conspiracy, the indictment charges Holloway and Lower in one count of possessing 50 kilograms or more of marijuana on July 10, 2010, with the intent to distribute.
Holloway is also charged with one count of distributing marijuana in Callaway County on July 26, 2010, and one count of possessing marijuana in Boone County with the intent to distribute on Sept. 6, 2010. Cerros-Perez is also charged with one count of possessing marijuana in Cooper County with the intent to distribute on Sept. 27, 2010.
Phillips cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren E. Kummerer. It was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and MUSTANG (the Mid-Missouri Unified Strike Team And Narcotics Group).
