kCK man pleads guilty to bank robbery
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Kan., man pleaded guilty in federal court today to robbing Commerce Bank in Grandview, Mo.
Daniel Bryant Hill, 38, of Kansas City, Kan., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner to the charge contained in a Dec. 6, 2011, federal indictment.
By pleading guilty today, Hill admitted that he stole $4,429 from Commerce Bank, 12829 S. 71 Hwy., Grandview, Mo., on Nov. 18, 2011. Hill passed a demand note to a bank teller, who removed money from her top drawer and gave it to Hill.
After Hill fled from the bank, a confidential source led police officers to a residence where they found Hill and arrested him later that same day. Hill said he robbed the bank because he was familiar with it, since he worked at the bank as a security guard in 2005.
Hill also admitted to robbing US Bank in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 8, 2011.
Under federal statutes, Hill is subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine up to $250,000. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina Y.Tabor. It was investigated by the FBI, the Grandview, Mo., Police Department and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
