kC man sentenced to 15 years for illegal firearm
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – David M. Ketchmark, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for illegally possessing a firearm.
Raymond D. Lacy, Sr., 39, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple to 15 years in federal prison without parole. Lacy was sentenced as an armed career offender due to his prior felony convictions.
On Oct. 21, 2011, Lacy pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Lacy admitted that he had a Heckler and Koch .40-caliber pistol under the driver’s seat of his car when he was stopped by police officers on Sept. 11, 2010.
Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Lacy has two prior felony convictions for robbery and three prior felony convictions for selling crack cocaine.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bruce E. Clark. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
