OXFORD, Miss. – William C. Martin, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, announced that:

Buford Cornelius Floyd, 34, of Pontotoc, was sentenced for distribution of cocaine yesterday by United States District Judge W. Allen Pepper, Jr., in Greenville, Mississippi. Judge Pepper ordered Floyd to serve a term of twenty years in prison. Floyd was also ordered to serve a term of five years supervised release.
Floyd pled guilty in November to one count of an Indictment charging him with knowingly and intentionally distributing in excess of 5 grams of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base, in violation of Title 21, Sections 841(a) and (b)(1)(B). He has been in federal custody since he entered his plea and was remanded to custody yesterday pending assignment to a facility by the Bureau of Prisons.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clay Joyner and Chad Doleac.
