OXFORD, Miss. – William C. Martin, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, and Yeudele Allen, Area Special Agent in Charge, Southeast Area, Office of Inspector General, United States Postal Service, announced that:

Raymond Roby, Sr., a former driver for Otis Winston Trucking, hired to collect and deliver mail along a postal highway contract route within the Tupelo area, was sentenced on March 25, 2010, by United States District Judge Sharion Aycock in Aberdeen, Mississippi.

Judge Aycock ordered Roby to serve a term of six months for each of the four convicted counts, to be served concurrently. Roby was also ordered to pay restitution of $4,265 to the U.S. Postal Service and $350 to Coldwater Creek.

Roby was convicted by a jury on September 16, 2009, on all four counts of the Indictment, which charged violations of Title 18, Section 1708, for the knowing and unlawful theft of mail (2 counts); Title 18, Section 641, for the knowing and unlawful use of a Postal Service Voyager card to fuel non-Postal Service vehicles; and Title 18, Section 641, for the knowing and unlawful embezzlement of postal funds.

This case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, in the Memphis, Tennessee office, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert H. Norman and Susan Bradley.
