
Ecru Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of a Computer
Containing Images of Child Pornography
OXFORD, Miss. – William C. Martin, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, and the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, announced that:
William Gerald Sanford, 54, of Ecru, Mississippi, entered a change of plea yesterday before United States District Judge Sharion Aycock, in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Sanford plead guilty to a one-count Indictment, charging him with possession of a computer containing images of child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2252A(a)(5)(B) and 2256(8)(A).
Sanford was arraigned on January 26 and has been held in the Pontotoc County Jail and the Monroe County Jail since that time. Following entry of his guilty plea, Judge Aycock remanded him to custody pending sentencing, which will be held after the completion of a presentence report. At sentencing, Sanford faces a maximum possible penalty of ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years supervised release.
This case was investigated by the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Clay Joyner and Clyde McGee.
