Saltillo Man Sentenced
on Perjury Charges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 23, 2011

OXFORD, Miss. – John Marshall Alexander, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, announced that:

Kenneth Doyle Rock, Sr., 54, of Saltillo, was sentenced last week following his guilty plea in 2010 to count three of an indictment, charging him with knowingly making a material, false representation while under oath. United States District Judge W. Allen Pepper ordered Rock to serve 16 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Rock will report to begin serving his sentence on May 16, 2011.

United States Attorney John Marshall Alexander stated: “The proper functioning of our judicial system depends upon the truthful testimony of all parties and witnesses. There are ramifications and consequences for those few who ignore their oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in court proceedings. Crimes such as that committed by Mr. Rock undermine our democracy and threaten the fair administration of justice. ”

According to the indictment, Rock, while under oath as a witness testifying in his
deposition prior to and ancillary to a civil trial before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi in which he was a defendant, knowingly made a material, false declaration in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1623(a).

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Clay Dabbs and Clay Joyner.
