
Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance
Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Billings, on July 20, 2009, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn S. Ostby, the following individual appeared:
ALFREDO MIGUEL-MATEO, a 31-year-old resident of Guatemala, made an initial appearance on a complaint alleging illegal re-entry. He is currently detained. If charged with this offense, MIGUEL-MATEO faces possible penalties of 2 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 1 year supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia Hurd is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Customs and Border Protection, the Office of Border Patrol.
