
Gerhard Curtis Stern Found Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on July 21, 2009, in Billings, after a 2-day federal district court trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, GERHARD CURTIS STERN, a 32-year-old resident of Ashland, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. Sentencing is set for October 22, 2009. He is currently detained.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd prosecuted the case for the United States.
STERN faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison and could be sentenced to life, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
