Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Billings on August 31, 2009, before Chief U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, ANTHONY RODRIGUEZ, a 47-year-old resident of Billings, pled guilty to distribution of methamphetamine. Sentencing is set for December 2, 2009. He is currently detained.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney James E. Seykora, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

On two occasions in 2006, RODRIGUEZ sold an FBI cooperating witness methamphetamine in Billings.

When arrested in 2008, RODRIGUEZ had $2,127 in cash and 20.10 grams of a mixture of methamphetamine (48.3% pure or 9.70 grams of actual) in his possession.

RODRIGUEZ faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and could be sentenced to life, a $4,000,000 fine and at least 5 years supervised release.

The investigation was conducted by the Billings Big Sky Safe Streets Task Force.
