Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Missoula, on September 21, 2009, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah C. Lynch, the following individuals appeared:

MICHAEL FILE, a 33-year-old resident of Cody, Wyoming, JEREMIAH LETTIERE, a resident of Coy, Wyoming, and SKYE BRUNS, a 23-year-old resident of Missoula, made initial appearances on a complaint alleging robbery and use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. They are currently detained. If charged with this offense, FILE, LETTIERE, and BRUNS each face possible penalties of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 5 years supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara J. Elliott is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was conducted by a cooperative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration, Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, Missoula Police Department, and Missoula County Sheriff's Office.

A complaint is merely a written statement of the essential facts constituting the offenses charged.
