The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Billings, on May 14, 2010, before U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan, DALE ANDREW ROUNDSTONE, a 41-year-old resident of Lame Deer, appeared for sentencing. ROUNDSTONE was sentenced to a term of:

• Prison: 151 months

• Special Assessment: $200

• Supervised Release: 5 years

ROUNDSTONE was sentenced after having been found guilty during a 3-day trial of kidnapping and assault resulting in serious bodily injury within the exterior boundaries of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Harper Suek prosecuted the case for the United States.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that ROUNDSTONE will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, ROUNDSTONE does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
