Loraine Steinmeyer Sentenced in U.S. District Court
The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Missoula, on September 8, 2010, before U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, LORAINE STEINMEYER, a 50-year-old resident of Reno, Nevada, appeared for sentencing. STEINMEYER was sentenced to a term of:
- Prison: 37 months
- Special Assessment: $100
- Supervised Release: 4 years
STEINMEYER was sentenced in connection with her guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara J. Elliott, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:
Beginning in approximately August of 2007, and continuing until December 10, 2008, STEINMEYER distributed methamphetamine in and around Missoula to various sources. These sources would have testified that the total amount of methamphetamine STEINMEYER distributed was more than 50 grams.
STEINMEYER was apprehended on December 10, 2008, with approximately 12.7 grams of methamphetamine on her person.
Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that STEINMEYER will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, STEINMEYER does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
