
Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance
The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Billings, on October 4, 2010, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn S. Ostby, the following individual appeared:
GUY HANWAY, JR. made an initial appearance on a District of Wyoming complaint alleging one count of kidnapping. In the complaint filed by the District of Wyoming, it is alleged that on or about September 30, 2010, HANWAY kidnapped a female individual and transported her interstate from Lander, Wyoming to Billings. He is currently detained and will be transported back to Wyoming. If charged with this offense, HANWAY faces possible penalties of up to life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and at least 5 years supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan M. Archer is the prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Montana. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
