Devin Hall Pleads Guilty in U.S. Federal Court
The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on October 26, 2010, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, DEVIN HALL, a 21-year-old resident of Wolf Point/Poplar, pled guilty to (4) counts of burglary. Sentencing has been set for January 24, 2011. He is currently detained.
In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:
As to Count I:
On March 6, 2010, officers were dispatched to a burglary report at a home in Wolf Point. Upon their arrival they spoke with a male individual who reported that HALL had broken into the residence and sexually assaulted a young girl sleeping on the couch. HALL was standing by the couch with no pants on, grabbed the girls' breast and told her to move over. She screamed for him to get out and HALL grabbed his pants and ran out a door. HALL did not have permission to be in the residence and is believed to have made entry through a side door.
As to Counts II and III:
On December 22, 2009, officers were dispatched to a burglary report at another home in Wolf Point. Upon their arrival they spoke with the homeowner who reported that HALL had just been found in the residence lying next to a teenaged girl. The girl reported that she was in bed sleeping when she felt someone lay down beside her, saw it was HALL and then shoved him off her bed onto the floor. She ran from the room and called for help from others there. HALL left the residence and the police were called. HALL did not have permission to be in the residence and is believed to have made entry through a back door that did not lock. HALL was found a short distance away, where he ran from law enforcement officers and was caught. HALL threw some items to the ground when he was arrested, and those items were later determined to have been taken from a different residence in Wolf Point. HALL did not have permission to be in that residence either and took a little girl's skirt, some other clothing items and some food items.
As to Count VIII:
On December 30, 2007, officers were dispatched to another residence in Wolf Point on a burglary report. Upon their arrival, they spoke with the home's occupants who reported that HALL had entered their residence without permission and unannounced. The female was sleeping in bed and awoke to HALL kissing her and then attempting to put his penis into her mouth. She yelled and hit him, while a male occupant came running to help. He threw HALL out of the apartment and they called police. HALL was found a short distance away and arrested.
HALL faces possible penalties of 20 years in prison, a $50,000 fine and 3 years supervised release on each count.
The investigation was conducted by the Fort Peck Tribes Criminal Investigation Division.
