Informational: Richard Christy Pays Fine For The Killing Of A Grizzly Bear In Violation Of The Endangered Species Act
The United States Attorney's Office and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced today that RICHARD CHRISTY, a 52-year-old resident of Fairfield, Montana, paid a $2,000 fine in response to a misdemeanor violation notice issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
CHRISTY was charged with one violation of the Endangered Species Act. CHRISTY was charged with killing a grizzly bear on May 10, 2011, at his ranch near Fairfield. At the time of the incident, CHRISTY claimed that two grizzly bears were attacking his sheep. Killing a grizzly bear in defense of livestock is a violation of the Endangered Species Act.
