The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on July 25, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, MARSHALL THOMAS PLUMAGE, a 34-year-old resident of Moses Lake, Washington, appeared for sentencing. PLUMAGE was sentenced to a term of:

Prison: 39 months

Special Assessment: $100

Supervised Release: 5 years

PLUMAGE was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to sexual abuse of a minor.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael T. Wolfe, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

On either the night of August 7, 2010, or the morning of August 8, 2010, PLUMAGE had sex with a 14-year-old girl in the back seat of his car. The victim had been drinking alcohol provided to her by PLUMAGE. The car was parked near the Northern Winz Casino and within the exterior boundaries of the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that PLUMAGE will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, PLUMAGE does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.
