Anthony Michael Halladay Sentenced in U.S. District Court
The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Billings, on October 14, 2011, before Chief U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, ANTHONY MICHAEL HALLADAY, a 43-year-old resident of Billings, appeared for sentencing. HALLADAY was sentenced to a term of:
Prison: 28 months
Special Assessment: $100
Supervised Release: 10 years
HALLADAY was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to failure to register.
In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:
On August 9, 1993, HALLADAY was convicted of sexual abuse of a child in the State of Utah, and was therefore required to register as a sex offender.
On April 15, 2009, upon release from prison HALLADAY registered as a sex offender in Utah. HALLADAY ultimately traveled to Billings in early November of 2009. HALLADAY failed to notify the appropriate authorities in Montana upon arrival.
Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that HALLADAY will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, HALLADAY does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.
