The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Billings, on March 28, 2012, before Senior U.S. District Judge Jack D. Shanstrom, ANGEL DELGADO-GONZALEZ, a citizen of Mexico, appeared for sentencing. DELGADO-GONZALEZ was sentenced to a term of:

Prison: 164 days (time served)

Special Assessment: $100

Supervised Release: 1 year

DELGADO-GONZALEZ was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to illegal re-entry.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica T. Fehr, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

On October 14, 2011, DELGADO-GONZALEZ was arrested in Broadus by the Undersheriff of the Powder River County Sheriff's Office for driving without a driver's license. Immigration Records and a fingerprint comparison revealed that DELGADO-GONZALEZ was an illegal alien who had been previously removed on four occasions from the United States.

On October 17, 2011, DELGADO-GONZALEZ was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. When questioned about his citizenship status, DELGADO-GONZALEZ admitted to being a citizen and national of Mexico illegally present in the United States. He also admitted he had never applied to the Secretary of Homeland Security to reenter the United States.

Further review of Immigration Records did not reveal any evidence that DELGADO-GONZALEZ received permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reenter the United States after having been removed.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Powder River County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations.
