The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on April 11, 2012, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, ROBERT BLACKDOG, a 56-year-old resident of Brockton and an enrolled member of the Fort Peck Indian Tribe, appeared for sentencing. BLACKDOG was sentenced to a term of:

Prison: 37 months

Special Assessment: $100

Supervised Release: 5 years

BLACKDOG was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to abusive sexual contact.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danna R. Jackson, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

Between 2002 and 2006, BLACKDOG had sexual contact with a female victim that was under the age of 12-years-old at the time. The sexual abuse took place within the exterior boundaries of both the Fort Peck and the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations. When questioned, BLACKDOG admitted to having had sexual contact with the victim.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that BLACKDOG will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, BLACKDOG does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
