Kevin Michael Sheldon Found Guilty in U.S. Federal Court
The United States Attorney's Office announced that on June 27, 2012, in Helena, after a federal district court trial before Senior U.S. District Judge Charles C. Lovell, KEVIN MICHAEL SHELDON, a 51-year-old resident of Helena, was found guilty of sexual exploitation of minors and receipt of child pornography. Sentencing is set for October 11, 2012. He is currently detained.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd prosecuted the case for the United States.
SHELDON faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 25 to 50 years in prison on the sexual exploitation of minors count and an additional mandatory minimum of 15 to 40 years in prison on the receipt of child pornography count, as well as a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations, the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Lewis & Clark Sheriff's Office.
