NEW BERN - United States Attorney Frank D. Whitney announced that ANDRE LAMONT FRISBY, 32, of 213 East Cotton Street, Farmville, N. C., was sentenced in federal court in New Bern on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, for a firearm violation.

Chief U. S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced FRISBY, an armed career criminal, to 200 months imprisonment and five years of supervised release.

A federal grand jury in Greenville had indicted FRISBY on December 8, 2004, for possessing a firearm after he had been convicted of a felony. He had pled guilty to the one-count indictment on February 22, 2005.

According to official documents and evidence presented in court, FRISBY qualified as an "armed career criminal" due to his previous felony convictions for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in 1991; possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine in 1991; conspiracy to commit armed robbery in 1997; assault inflicting serious bodily injury in 2000; and sale of cocaine in 2000.

Investigation of the case was conducted by the Farmville Police Department, the Pitt County Drug Task Force, the Emergency Response Team of the Greenville Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Glenn Perry of the Pitt County District Attorney's Office prosecuted the case for the United States.
