LELAND MAN SENTENCED TO 120 MONTHS IN PRISON

RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E. B. Holding announced that in federal court yesterday United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced DERRICK GREENE, 25, of Leland, North Carolina to 120 months in prison. On July 9, 2007, GREENE pleaded guilty to distributing crack cocaine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 841(a)(1) and being in possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c). GREENE was involved in the possession and distribution of marijuana and crack cocaine in Leland, North Carolina, from August 2006, to January 16, 2007. On December 11, 2006, GREENE distributed crack cocaine and sold an Ithaca, Model 37, 12-gauge pump-action sawed-off shotgun to a cooperating individual.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department, and the Leland Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jane Jackson was prosecution for the government.
