WELDON MAN SENTENCED TO 180 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT
FOR ROBBERY WITH A FIREARM
RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E. B. Holding announced that in federal court yesterday United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced CALVIN D. BRITT, of Weldon, North Carolina, to 180 months imprisonment. BRITT was charged in a Superseding Indictment on December 20, 2006 and pleaded guilty on March 19, 2007.
On July 4, 2005, BRITT brandished a firearm, a Raven Arms, Model MP-25, .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and robbed the Red Apple Convenience Store in Conway, North Carolina. BRITT was arrested outside the store in possession of the weapon. BRITT was convicted of violations of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1951, robbery of a business affecting interstate commerce and Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c) using a firearm during and in relation to a federal crime of violence.
Investigation of the case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jane Jackson prosecuted the case for the government.
