RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E. B. Holding announced that yesterday, a jury in Raleigh convicted TONY TAYLOR, age 34, of Dunn, North Carolina, of one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and six counts of actually distributing or possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine. The jury returned its verdict yesterday, following a trial in federal court before United States District Judge James C. Dever, III.
TAYLOR faces a minimum of ten years imprisonment and a maximum of life on two of the seven counts, which held TAYLOR responsible for more than 50 grams of crack, and a minimum of 5 years imprisonment with a 40 year maximum on the remaining five counts. Sentencing is scheduled for the June 18th term of Court.
TAYLOR was dealing drugs in the area of Dunn, North Carolina known as Taylorville, and was a target of an investigation dubbed by law enforcement officers as “Operation Taylorville.” Operation Taylorville is a collaborative effort among several law enforcement agencies, to include the Dunn Police Department, the Harnett County Drug Task Force, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Barbara D. Kocher prosecuted the case for the United States.
