TWO-YEAR GRANT ALLOWS PITT COUNTY ADA TO JOIN
UNITED STATES ATTORNEY’S OFFICE
RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding is pleased to announce the addition of Glenn Perry to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Mr. Perry comes from the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office, where he began his law career in 1992. During his tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Perry prosecuted a wide range of cases, which has given him a strong working base for the United States Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Perry was raised in Williamston, Martin County, North Carolina. His undergraduate work was performed at East Carolina University. In 1991, Mr. Perry graduated from the Wake Forest School of Law. In 2004, Mr. Perry began working with the United States Attorney’s Office as a part-time Special Assistant United States Attorney under the Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) program. These duties were undertaken in addition to his work with the District Attorney’s Office.
As a full-time Special Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Perry has been assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) section focusing on the prosecution of drug cases in Pitt County and the surrounding area. He will work with federal, state and local investigators to target and prosecute the most serious drug offenders affecting theses areas. The funds to support his position have come from a two-year grant received from the Governor’s Crime Commission, which became effective July 1, 2008.
Mr. Holding commented: “This office, with the aid and support of the Governor’s Crime Commission, has been pairing with District Attorney’s Offices in the Eastern District to permit selected attorneys access to federal court as part of our full-time Special Assistant United States Attorney program. Glenn Perry is the second attorney authorized to fill this role. Working with my permanent staff and with investigators at all levels, Mr. Perry will direct the worst drug offenders affecting Pitt County into federal court where he can take advantage of stiff penalties and the full resources of the federal government to remove traffickers from this area. We are delighted to welcome Glenn to the team.”
