ELIZABETHTOWN FELON IS SENTENCED

RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court yesterday ANTONIO TERELL MCALLISTER, 24, of Elizabethtown, North Carolina, was sentenced before United States District Judge Terrence w. Boyle to 96 months’ imprisonment and three years supervised release following his term of confinement. A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on July 11, 2007. At his arraignment on January 9, 2008, MCALLISTER pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On January 5, 2007, Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a subject having been shot at a residence in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. The victim, who had been shot once in each leg and once in his chest, identified MCALLISTER, his cousin, as the shooter. MCALLISTER fled the scene but was later arrested. Found at the scene were bullet fragments and three .380 shell casings. Also found at the residence beneath a Styrofoam cooler was a Bersa .380 handgun.

Mr. Holding commented, “This case again points out the danger of armed felons in our midst. Our Project Safe Neighborhoods program continues to target violent repeat offenders in order to remove them from our communities.”

Investigation of the case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jane Jackson was prosecution for the government.
