GREENVILLE MAN RECEIVES 8 YEARS IN PRISON
FOR UNLAWFUL FIREARM POSSESSION

RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court here yesterday United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced ABRIEL DONTEA DOVE, 27, of Greenville, North Carolina, to 96 months’ imprisonment.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on June 11, 2008. On November 12, 2008, DOVE pled guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. On June 7, 2007, deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of DOVE. A search of DOVE and the vehicle revealed 0.96 grams of cocaine in DOVE’s pocket and a stolen, loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver in the vehicle.

Mr. Holding commented: “We owe a debt of gratitude to those law enforcement officers that go out on the street every day. They face unknown dangers with each and every stop and we are grateful as they put their lives on the line.”

Investigation of the case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the North Carolina National Guard Drug Task Force; and the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Special Assistant United States Attorney Glenn Perry was the assigned Prosecutor.Mr. Perry is a prosecutor with the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office.District Attorney Clark Everett has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force criminal matters.This has been made possible by a grant funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission.
