GREENVILLE DRUG DEALER RECEIVES SENTENCE

NEW BERN - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court here today Chief United States District Judge Louise W. Flanagan, sentenced NATHAN KINTA WILKINS, 30, of Greenville, North Carolina, to 141 months’ imprisonment.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on July 17, 2008. On October 7, 2008, WILKINS pled guilty distribution of more than five grams of cocaine base (crack). On March 31, 2007, and again on August 28, 2007, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office arranged two controlled buys of 13.8 grams and 13.6 grams, respectively, of crack cocaine from WILKINS. Further investigation revealed that WILKINS started selling crack and powder cocaine in 1994.

Mr. Holding commented, “The men and women of law enforcement work hard to protect the citizens in our communities and dealing with drug dealers puts these protectors in dangerous situations. When we are able to highlight these cases, it is an excellent opportunity to thank law enforcement for their dedication and selfless service – ‘Thank you!’.”

Investigation of the case was conducted by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Special Assistant United States Attorney Glenn Perry was the assigned Prosecutor.Mr. Perry is a prosecutor with the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office.District Attorney Clark Everett has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force criminal matters.This has been made possible by a grant funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission.
