ROCKY MOUNT ILLEGAL DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON
RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on yesterday United States District Judge James C. Dever, III, sentenced MAURICE ANDRE HIGH, also known as Andre High, also known as “Dreads,” 36, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to 138 months’ imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on January 22, 2009. On May 4, 2009, HIGH pled guilty to distribution of more than five grams of cocaine base (crack).
On June 8, 2006, using a confidential informant, officers of the Rocky Mount Police Department conducted a controlled purchase of 6.5 grams of crack from HIGH.
Investigation of this case was conducted by the Nash County Sheriff's Office, Rocky Mount Police Department, and North Carolina Adult Probation and Parole. Assistant United States Attorney Brian Meyers represented the government.
