HUSBAND OF FORT BRAGG SOLDIER RECEIVES
FEDERAL SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT

WILMINGTON - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on April 13, 2010, Senior United States District Judge James C. Fox sentenced BRANDON SUDELL WILSON, 23, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to 120 months’ imprisonment followed by three years supervised release for an assault on his three-month-old daughter. The Court also imposed restitution in the amount of $16,526.91.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on November 5, 2009. On January 5, 2010, WILSON pled guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

It was learned through the investigation, after the child was presented at Womack Army Medical Center Emergency Department on October 14, 2009, that the child was suffering from a fractured arm. Further x-ray’s revealed fractured ribs that had healed and a fractured right femur and skull. Through an interview with WILSON it was learned that he had been abusing the child.

Mr. Holding remarked, “It is extremely saddening when we learn of events that harm any small innocent child. In this case the abuser will be locked away so that he cannot do further harm to the child. We cannot stop child abuse without your assistance. If you suspect abuse, please report it.”

Investigation of this case was conducted by the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command. Special Assistant United States Attorneys Charles Bronowski and Alexander R. Schneider represented the government.
