LUMBERTON WOMAN RECEIVES 12 ½ YEARS IN PRISON

FOR SELLING DRUGS

RALEIGH - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on April 27, 2010, United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced APRIL LITISHA WYNN, 28, of Lumberton, North Carolina, to 150 months’ imprisonment followed by five years supervised release.

A Criminal Information was filed on November 16, 2009, charging WYNN with conspiring to distribute and possessing with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (crack). That same day, WYNN pled guilty to the charge.

WYNN was identified as a significant distributor of crack cocaine in the Robeson County area. Beginning on June 11, 2009, law enforcement made four controlled purchases of crack cocaine from WYNN totaling over 120 grams. On August 19, 2009, WYNN was arrested and a search of the residence in Lumberton was made. Officers found 2 grams of crack cocaine, 2 ounces of powder cocaine, and a .22 caliber rifle.WYNN was previously convicted of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine in July, 2008.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney J. Frank Bradsher was assigned as prosecutor.
