DRUG DEALER RECEIVES 20 YEARS IMPRISONMENT

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court on August 8, 2011, Chief United State District Judge Louise W. Flanagan, sentenced JOHN IVEY HALL, 40, of Wilson, North Carolina, to 240 months’ imprisonment followed by five years’ supervised release.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on July 16, 2010.On March 16, 2011, HALL pled guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base (crack) and a quantity of marijuana.

According to the investigation, law enforcement received information regarding the illegal drug activities of HALL. Because of the information received, two controlled purchases were arranged in which HALL sold marijuana. Surveillance of HALL’s residence was established in October, 2009, and a search warrant was obtained and executed. As law enforcement entered, the smell of burnt marijuana was detected and HALL’s minor child was found with numerous others. After removing the child from the premises, officers continued the search and recovered from the residence 71.1 grams of marijuana, 103.9 grams of crack cocaine, and $9,872.00 in cash.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wilson Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer E. Wells was assigned as prosecutor for the government.
