
wilson drug dealer receives federal prison sentence
NEW BERN - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court yesterday United States District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced JOHNNIE LEE LUCAS, III, 30, to 175 months imprisonment.
On August 3, 2011, a Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment charging LUCAS. On October 13, 2011, LUCAS pled guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base (crack).
According to the investigation, in May, 2010, four controlled purchases were arranged by law enforcement in which LUCAS sold varying amounts of crack cocaine. In July, 2011, while officers were serving a warrant on LUCAS at his residence, officers found 38 grams of crack cocaine.
This case was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation entitled, “8 Mile,” in which more than 20 people have been prosecuted.
Investigation of this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wilson Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer E. Wells prosecuted the case.
