GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that yesterday United States Chief District Court Judge James C. Dever III sentenced CHRISOPHER JEROME JOHNSON, 32, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to 32 years imprisonment followed by 5 years supervised release. 

     A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on January 13, 2011.  On July 5, 2011, JOHNSON pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fifty (50) grams or more of cocaine base (crack) and five kilograms or more of cocaine, in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Section 846.

The investigation established that, beginning in 2006, JOHNSON engaged in a conspiracy with others to sell large quantities of cocaine and crack cocaine in Rocky Mount.  In August, 2009, Johnson and at least two other co-conspirators abducted an individual at gun-point who they believed had stolen cocaine from them.  The victim was transported to a barn with his head covered and tied to a chair, where he was held for more than a day before being released. 

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Rocky Mount Police Department. 

Assistant United States Attorney Eric Goulian prosecuted the case for the government.
