LAGRANGE DRUG DEALER SENTENCED

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court today Senior United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard sentenced TERRANCE LEVON JONES, 26, of LaGrange, North Carolina, to 188 months imprisonment followed by five years supervised release. Additionally, the Court imposed a fine of $2,500.

On June 7, 2011, a Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment. On September 14, 2011, JONES pled guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base (crack) and a quantity of cocaine.

According to the investigation, on November 5, 2010, a controlled purchase was arranged in which co-defendant Melvin Wayne Moye agreed to meet in Farmville, North Carolina. They then traveled to the residence of JONES in LaGrange, North Carolina. JONES sold 26.7 grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant. In November and December, 2010, three more controlled purchases were arranged with JONES, in which 38.3 grams, 54.2 grams, and 153.8 grams of crack cocaine were sold. After the final controlled purchase in December, 2010, JONES was arrested.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Greenville Drug Task Force, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and the Farmville Police Department. Special Assistant United States Attorney Glenn Perry was the assigned Prosecutor.Mr. Perry is a prosecutor with the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office.District Attorney Clark Everett has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force criminal matters.This has been made possible by a grant funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission.
