ROCKY MOUNT FELON RECEIVES FEDERAL SENTENCE

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court today Senior United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard sentenced JERVIS RICKY DAVIS, 33, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to 96 months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release.

On September 1, 2010, a Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment charging DAVIS. On February 11, 2011, DAVIS pled guilty to possession of a stolen firearm.

According to the investigation, on March 23, 2009, DAVIS broke into a residence in Whitakers, North Carolina, stealing a Walther Model P99 .40 caliber firearm. A neighbor witnessed the robbery and called law enforcement. DAVIS was apprehended after the vehicle he used to escape in crashed.

This case was part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative which encourages federal, state, and local agencies to cooperate in a unified “team effort” against gun crime, targeting repeat offenders who continually plague their communities.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Toby Lathan is serving as prosecutor for the government.
